Using Fantastico to install Wordpress to your domain name is the easiest way to install and also the fastest way to set up a blog. Fantastico will install Wordpress software and also create the database and configure the file for you.
So how does Fantastico work? First make sure that your hosting provider has the option of Fantastico. Hostgator is one of the hosting providers that has the Fantastico option and makes it extremely easy to install. You can open a hostgator account here:
First login to your web hosting control panel. Let’s assume that you’re using cpanel. It’s easy to access the cpanel. The way to login is to type http://www.yourdomainname.com/cpanel
Once you do this, it’ll ask for the name and password. This is the name and password that you already installed to your whm.
Once you’re in, you’ll see a blue smiley face icon. This is Fantastico. When you click on it, you’ll see some options of which software to install. Click on wordpress. If you happen to have more than one website hosted to your hosting account, make sure to select the right domain that you want wordpress to be installed on. If you want wordpress to be installed in the root directory, then be sure to leave it blank. If you decided that you want it to be installed in a sub directory, then make up the directory name and install it in like wordpress or blog.
Be sure to enter your admin nickname that you are going to use when posting an article. If you would like to be notified when comments are posted to your website, then be sure to enter your email address. Then be sure to enter your site name and blog description. You can also set up email configurations; usually this is in the default settings. Then it’s time to click “install wordpress.”
Once Wordpress is installed, you may choose to have details of the website sent to your email address. Doing this is highly recommended in case if you forget your user name and password. That way if you forget, you can always go back and find the email that was sent to your account.
After that, you have successfully installed wordpress. Go to http://www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin or if you installed to a sub directory, you would go to http://www.yourwebsite.com/sub-directoryname/wp-admin
Once you log into wordpress, you’re then ready to create your website.
